Your Primary Assignment

Saturday, December 8th

Pastor Chris

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-12).>

Your primary assignment in life is the work of the ministry. This is your highest calling; everything else is secondary. You may be a politician, a medical doctor, or a lawyer, which is great, but your number one assignment in life is to do the work of the ministry. Notice the reason God gave the fivefold ministry gifts to the Church; it’s "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry…." (Ephesians 4:12).

The work of the ministry is the reconciliation of the world to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20 says, "…we are ambassadors for Christ…." As His ambassadors, our responsibility is to turn many to righteousness, and from the power of Satan unto God. We’re to call sinners to repentance and change lives everywhere. This sovereign responsibility to change lives is entrusted to you because you have the Gospel message that works. Since this message is in you and working in you, you can help others receive it and have it produce results in their lives too.

Christmas is meaningless to the one who doesn’t know Jesus. So make it a meaningful Christmas for someone this season; go out to where you work, where you live, and to all you’re in contact with and pour out of the blessings of heaven that are in you. Relate with those in your sphere of contact in the language of love and communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is able to change their lives once they receive it.

2 Corinthians 5:19 says God, through Christ, has made peace with all men and is not holding men’s sins against them. This is the message of the Gospel that He has committed to us; a message worth hearing, especially at Christmas time. Spread it in your world and to the regions beyond.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you for bringing me into union with your Son Jesus, and imparting to me the same passion for lost souls that was evident in the life of Christ. By the power of your Spirit, I saturate my world today with the knowledge of your Word and men shall be drawn to the light of your glorious Gospel, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
